Kitchen Rabbit Hole Adventures

Hi Foodies!

I love to write, and I love to cook. 

I have nearly 40 years’ experience in communications, public relations and journalism, and about the same amount of tenure in my own kitchen.

Let's Talk Cooking First:

Food and family were keystones to growing up in an Italian-American family in Northern New Jersey. Although Mom and Nana were a tad controlling in their respective kitchens and not very open to actively teaching the next generation, I was always underfoot observing what they were doing.  When I was old enough to start asking questions about recipes, the response was always, “eh, a little of this and a little of that…..”. It didn’t take long to figure out that I was on my own where the family cookbook was concerned.  I learned by watching, smelling, and tasting: Today when I cook, I sniff, taste, and tweak until my senses tell me it’s right. 

This method has helped me become an adventurous, creative cook with no fear of concocting a new recipe and then serving to guests that very day. 

I hope that what I share here helps you to be more daring and adventurous in your kitchen.

No matter how delicious a recipe is by itself, knowing the backstory ads a level of authenticity that's as important to the recipe as provenance is to a valuable antique artifact.  To the best of my knowledge and ability, I will share the stories that provide that authenticity to the recipes you'll see here.
